Bemis Annual Report
Bemis was looking for a whole new look with its 2002 annual report,
and GLS account executive Jim Benedict and the GLS creative services
team delivered. This was the first year that Bemis elected to include
a photo of its entire board of directors in the annual report. The photos
were taken in a horizontal format to accommodate the size of the group,
so GLS designer Amy Bobrofsky decided to design the report in a landscape
format to mix it up a bit.
She also picked up on an oval design that’s not only used in the
company’s logo, but also in a graphic that represents the intersection
of value, technology and innovation for the company, carrying that design
element throughout the pages of the report. The cover was printed on
a felt stock rather than the typical glossy paper stock and featured
both a die cut and clear foil emboss.
Graco Annual Report
GLS account executive Dave Tich worked closely with Graco’s internal
design group when it chose a silver metallic cover stock for the company’s
annual report. With photos designed on the cover layout, this particular
cover stock presented some printing challenges, but Tich and GLS’s
printing team were determined to make it work.
After a lot of up-front planning and several test runs, a creative solution
to a sticky problem was found. GLS printed a base of white foil on the
cover, then printed the four-color process images over that. Graco’s
designers carried the silver metallic ink throughout the internal design,
and the result was a striking annual report—both inside and out.
