d.trio Marketing Group’s High-End Premium Promotional Mailer Captures A 27 Percent Response Rate, Wins President’s Choice Award

alerus product shotCongratulations to d.trio, a Minneapolis-based multichannel marketing agency and winner of this fall’s President’s Choice Award. The full-service agency, with a specialty in direct mail, won the award for its mailer designed to introduce its client, Alerus Trust and Investments, to a targeted group of prospects.

The agency’s objective: to devise a way to help set up relationship building meetings with attorneys and accountants. The meetings would familiarize them with Alerus’ trust and investment services, and persuade them to recommend Alerus to their firm’s clients.

d.trio’s strategy was to develop a high visibility 3-D mailing that would break through the clutter and be opened by the highly prized demographic — professionals with the credibility and authority to recommend their client. The tactic: use of an upscale premium — a zippered folio edition of Scrabble — that could be branded and would have longevity.

Working with d.trio’s creative staff, GLS handled the vivid color imprinting of the mailer package and two inserts — a Scrabble-themed letter requesting a meeting and a half page introducing the Alerus team. GLS also sourced a branded pencil and chip pouch and, when ready, took care of mailing. But it was the concept that was the magic — 27 percent of all recipients agreed to meet with Alerus!
