Congratulations to the Décor Division of Newell Rubbermaid for innovation and design excellence in a sample package for its Kirsch brand of decorative finials. The project resulted in a launch of a new sample system to assist interior designers showing high-style finials for decorative curtain rods.
Led by in-house Senior Designer Laura Thompson, the project features a swatch-style “Finial Fan Deck” illustrating each finial in vivid 2-D photography, closely approximating their actual size. This industry-first innovation allows designers to accurately show their customers how any of a wide range of finials will actually look in the home.
Covered by a die-cut enclosure with magnetic clasp, the samples are attached with a removable post. Various categories of finials are separated by dividers imprinted with repeating designs reflecting the category theme. The unique tool is packaged in a custom box featuring the simple, elegant Kirsch “K” logo and a custom “Thank You” card introducing the package to designers.
Assisted by Account Executive Wendi Breuer, the project was enormously challenging in creating numerous detailed die-cuts—and ensuring that each sample was within 1/16 of an inch of actual size.
“This is clearly a case where marketing innovation and excellent design came together,” said Gary Garner, President and CEO of GLS. “Newell Rubbermaid and designer Laura Thompson succeeded in creating a new industry tool with genuine elegance. We are delighted to have been a part of this exceptional project.”
